Sharks Galore

The Shark fishing in Courtmacsherry the past couple of weeks has been the main activity, with large numbers of Blues landed from  the Lady Louise and Lady Patricia.Serveral fish over 2ms being landed with fish of 2.35m for Ronald Trass from Zeeland,this was one of the heaviest blue landed this year ,aprox weight was 130lbs,(we aprox the weight by using the information that was gathered when we use to land many specimen shark in Courtmacsherry,)of course now we have a policy of tag and release.The Lady Patrica yesterday landed 7 Blues and the heaviest fish was 2.49m, this fish would weigh aprox 145lbs and was caught by Peter Govan from Meath.The fish was landed using 30lb class gear and took 1hour and 30 minutes to bring to the boat.

On the Lady Louise the same day we  landed 7 shark the heaviest a fish of 1.96m for Rinus Hage from Holland.On the inshore scene we have had good catches of Pollack,Cod ,Ling and conger but the strong tides and fresh westerlys  made fishing difficult.In the estuary the Bass fishing was very good up to a week ago and has waned a bit lately with the catches not as good of late,saying that a group from Zeeland using live mackerel land 7 fish in a 2 hour session the heaviest around 3kg,and some good fish taken off the pier with live Pollack.(see Gallery)
